My Grandfather, Ronald Blaine Stapley

A few weeks ago, my grandfather passed away. I've been thinking about him and the things that he taught me. One of my earliest memories of him was walking into the kitchen and seeing him eat strawberry jam directly out of a jar with a big spoon. I adopted that habit immediately. He would always have candy in his pockets and made my parents stop the car when he saw blackberries on the side of the road. He loved talking about Southern Utah and he loved my grandmother.

For Erynn's wedding, Patriarch Bateman performed the ceremony. When he saw Grandpa come in, he smiled and asked, "You kept the faith?" Grandpa nodded, smiled back and said, "Yep, how about you?" His faith was important to him and he was a huge example to all of us.

The thing I will miss the most is that when he left, he would always give me a big hug and tell me that he loved me. I loved him too.
